Delivering to Discovery Park, Sandwich: what to know
Who is on the park, and how do I address it?
Pfizer sold the site in 2012 and still has a presence. It gained Enterprise Zone status in 2011 and now houses pharmaceutical companies, contract research organisations, diagnostics and biotech firms, and education providers, including LGC, Concept Life Sciences, Viatris and Canterbury Christ Church University. The campus is large, so give us the tenant company, building and a named contact, not an old Pfizer building reference.
What has to be declared?
Samples must be packaged by you as UN3373. Dry ice, chemicals classed as dangerous goods and any Category A infectious substance must be declared when you enquire, with quantity and packaging, so we can assess the job and arrange the right vehicle and paperwork. Nothing hazardous should be handed to the driver undeclared.
How long will it take?
From Maidstone the driver takes the M20 and A249 to the M2, the A299 Thanet Way and the A256 south to Sandwich, around 50 miles. The A2 to Canterbury and the A257 is the alternative. We quote with the earliest collection time, then assign the vehicle, from a small car to a 7.5-tonne lorry with tail-lift. Cover up to £100 is standard; if your consignment is worth more, tell us its value and, where extra cover can be arranged, we confirm the level and any cost before you accept.
